RE: is this a bad word??

My dear departed Mother used to say that, folks who used questionable and indecent language, were "short of words". If posters can't come up with a more acceptable synonym for angry, I would have to agree that they were "short of words". There are still a lot of folks that don't consider "street trash talk" cool or macho, regardless of what one might hear on TV. If that makes me an "old foggie", so be it.

RE: Source for light bulb - Itasca Sunova Dinette bulb

GO HERE ! Talk with either Lonnie or Dave. they will solve your problem. they are better than the guys at Winnebago. You might even find it yourself in their online catalog. Good luck !

RE: portable macerators

I have used the flojet, pumping through 75' of 3/4 inch hose. No problems at all. I have also run it from an emergency engine starter/ battery charger unit. As was stated in the other thread, the wiring need not be complicated.

RE: Outside water hose burst - fake

I bought one of those hoses too. the hose didn't burst, but the end fitting blew off. What a deal! (For Wal-mart)

RE: Seattle. Pikes Market. RV Parking

Being really picky, it is the "Pike Place Market". Anyway, I would support the idea of parking the MH on the outskirts of Seattle and taking the bus into town. Even on a Sunday, there is little parking space for an RV in the downtown area. Northgate Mall on the north or South Center Mall on the south. On the east side of Lake Washington, possibly Factoria Mall, at the junction of I-90 and I-405. You might also check the Seattle-Metro (the transit system) web-site for the locations of "Park and Ride" lots which would serve you purpose.

RE: Smelly fridge

Another odor absorbing trick is to fill the compartment with crumpled newsprint. Close the door and leave it for several days. The paper will absorb the odor, and can be discarded and replaced several times, at virtually no cost. I used this trick to "clean" a freezer of fish odor on a boat.

RE: Running Wire Thru Firewall 2008 CRV

I don't have a CRV, but I didn't run the wire through the firewall of the Blazer. I removed the finishing panel under the driver's side door, and drilled down through the rocker panel. I knew there was nothing there to be destroyed. The wire enters the cabin from under the reinstalled finishing panel and the extra wire is coiled under the drivers seat, when not plugged in to the BB. Just another option. Good luck with the installation.

RE: Norcold Fridge reading no A/C

I have a Norcold and mine has a regular cord and plug which is pluged into an outlet, accessible from the outside of the coach. The grill which allows air into the lower portion of the back of the fridge. If that were to be unplugged, the fridge would register NO AC. Just a thought.

RE: Sirus Radio Antenna on fiberglass roof?

I have XM radio, but the antennas are the same. I have mine on the inside, on top of the TV, above the dash. It works just fine through the fiberglass roof, and I didn't need to drill holes, or attach anything to the roof.

RE: Any thoughts on Wilderness Lakes in Menifee, CA?

I "scouted" the preserve in March. I was not at all impressed. The most discouraging features were the cattle operation on the adjoining property, and the lack of attention given to the vegetation in the preserve. There were also many "semi-permanent" appearing campers, with very trashy sites. This is the lest inviting preserve that I have visited. I am a TT member and was looking to spend time at Wilderness Lakes, but opted to stay in another parks in Hemet and use my "member nighs" in more pleasent preserves.

RE: Adjusting sagging blinds on Rockwood windows ?

Yes, tightening the strings that are attached to the wall on each end to the blind will put more tension on the system and keep the blind from "sagging". BE REALLY CAREFUL, a broken string is a real PITB.

RE: How to Prime the Water Pump?

It sounds like you might have a "selector valve" in the wrong position. I have a valve that allows filling the tanks via the city water connection. If that is in the "fill" position, the pump will not pressurize the system. Good luck !

RE: San Diego to Bakersfield

"Taking the 15 to the 395 then the 58 to Bakersfield?" I have traveled this route several times, and find it a very good route around the Greater L.A. area. I don't believe the grades are as steep as the Grapevine on I-5. The stretch of 395 is fairly heavily traveled and is mostly two lanes. Not a problem unless one is in a real hurry. I usually take the I-215 option, but due to the construction at the north junction of I-215 and I-15, I suggest you just stay on I-15.

RE: REAL WORLD RV gas/v/diesel MPG is ????

I'm 34', 7.4L Chevy Vortec, towing an S-10 Blazer. I average between 6.5 and 8.5, depending on the conditions and the terrain. Over all, average over about 30,000 miles towing is right at 7 MPG.

RE: Staying close to home

We are still planning on heading south, southern California and Nevada again next December for 3-4 months, but we shall see what we shall see regarding fuel prices. If it gets too much worse, I can always stay home and play with my snow blower. Of course, that takes gas also. What the heck, it's only money ! As to summer, we will camp some right here on the Columbia River (Lincoln Rock SP, Crescent Bar, Daroga SP) all nearby locations. It is hard to beat the weather and the scenery right here at home. It is also hard to be away from the garden for very long here in the hot, dry part of the state.

RE: Hole in the firewall

I drilled up or down through the "rocker panel" beneath the drivers side door. I removed the finishing panel, and brought the wire up under it and it stays coiled up under the drivers seat. when not in use. No hole in the firewall.

RE: Hood River Bridge

Another option is the US197 bridge at The Dalles. That would be no problem either.

RE: Waste Pumps Worth the Money?

I have used the pump advertised at the following web-site, and it worked very well at a distance of 75 feet. This is also the best price I have seen for this kit version. LOOK HERE
